August Home Maintenance Checklist

Its August! Marking the end summer and the beginning of fall is just around the corner. Keeping up with these maintenance tasks in August can help ensure your home stays in great shape and ready for the upcoming fall season.


Indoor Maintenance

  1. HVAC System:

  • Check and replace air filters.

  • Clean vents and ducts.

  • Schedule a professional HVAC inspection if not done recently.

  1. Plumbing:

  • Check for leaks under sinks and around toilets.

  • Inspect and clean the garbage disposal.

  • Test water heater for proper function.

  1. Appliances:

  • Clean refrigerator coils.

  • Check the washing machine hoses for leaks.

  • Inspect and clean the dryer vent and exhaust duct.

  1. Fire Safety:

  • Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

  • Replace batteries if needed.

  • Review fire escape plans with the family.

  1. Pest Control:

  • Check for signs of pests and treat as needed.

  • Inspect basement and attic for signs of rodents or insects.
